Safety is our first priority. Everything we do in British Airways Engineering is focussed on exactly this. We operate a fleet of over 250 aircraft on our global network and Engineering plays a critical role in keeping this operation running safely and punctually.
Initially based at Heathrow, but with opportunities to work at our other locations, the Engineering Professionals Graduate Programme will inject new talent into the Engineering technical support function in order to address the challenges facing the business.
Over 2 years, you will work with a broad cross-section of our engineering support teams, developing a wide range of skills and capabilities to take onto a more permanent role in one of these areas:
Engineering Services Design and Technical – Introducing new technologies, compiling modifications and repairs and certification requirements. How the aircraft maintenance scheduled is developed and controlled, and how compliance with mandatory and routine data requirements are met.
Heavy Maintenance Technical – Understand the aircraft technical issues as they arise during the maintenance check, and working with the airframe manufacturer, identify innovative solutions that keep the check schedule.
Engineering Quality – Understand how BA Engineering remains in compliance with all the necessary airworthiness regulatory requirements and as the recognised industry leader.
Powerplant Management, Operational Support and Asset Management – Ensuring the safety and reliability of the BA engine fleet, and our long-term engine management practices, integrating technical requirements with innovative commercial agreements and strict financial governance. Protect the daily operation of our engines and APUs, dealing with defects reported on the day, together with the shorter-term engine management issues. Dealing with external and internal suppliers to ensure we always have the right engine available to support BA operations. The team includes our on-site engine repair facility and engine health-monitoring laboratory.
Overhaul Support – Gain unique access to the engine internal hardware, and learn our techniques for intelligent work scoping and delivering reliability while controlling costs.
You’ll be comfortable working in a dynamic environment that requires sound technical decision-making under tight timescale pressure. You will need to think logically, showing strong analytical, problem solving and clear communication skills, yet be flexible, open-minded, inquisitive and aware of the business issues behind each project.
We are looking for graduates with a 2:1 degree in either Aerospace, Mechanical or Electronic/Electrical Engineering, or a 2:2 degree with a Masters in Aerospace, Mechanical or Electronic/Electrical Engineering who are committed to a career in the department. You must also be prepared to spend some time in the various technical support areas as part of the development programme.
